While I deeply enjoyed my college experience it absolutely isn’t for everyone. Thanks to my parents and some scholarships I wasn’t burdened with debt afterward, but not everyone has those circumstances. I agree that self awareness is most important, but I think culturally in terms of both social and business culture. Not everyone is adequately inclined, adequately capable, or adequately solvent to spend 4 extra years at school, and that really shouldn’t be a barrier to their achievement if it’s not an academic field.
